faenaDistrict-1You’re probably familiar with the highly regarded Faena Hotel, but did you know that it was also deemed a district back in 2014? The project by Argentinian developer Alan Faena is an effort being overseen by Faena and his business partner Len Blavatnik with the intention of transforming and reimagining a series of faded hotels and condos found along the six blocks comprising the district. Within this district is the Faena Hotel with 169 rooms, the smaller Casa Claridge hotel and its fifty rooms, a trio of condominiums, retail, and a cultural center.

The Faena district is a mere ten-minute walk from South Beach and is being developed as a centerpiece of the Mid-Beach area. While the district may be a major factor in giving the Mid-Beach area its much deserved facelift, the area has also been helped by the emergence of the Thompson Miami Beach and the Asian-American restaurant Talde found within it named after “Top Chef” alum Dale Talde. Shortly after the Thompson, the three and a half acre Miami Beach Edition resort made its debut, boasting an ice rink, nightclub, and a bowling alley, among other features.

So far, all of the hype behind the Faena district has been met with a positive reception, and should only continue to get even better as it comes to closer to its full completion.
